Last weekend, we traveled down Hearst Castle and to the town of San Luis Obispo. It's a bustling college town with a fun downtown and lots of hiking paths. Those were just pluses to the town, as our main reason to visit was to stay at the infamous Madonna Inn, one of the hotels on my Bucket List of places to stay in the United States, and I was not disappointed in the least.
The Madonna Inn is a Technicolor dream world any vintage lover can appreciate. We went do dinner at the Gold Rush Steakhouse and I loved the fact I had a Grey Goose dirty martini with dinner and ordered the pink champagne cake for dessert. I highly recommend the Champagne Cake! The pool and hot tub were equally lovely and we spent an evening swimming in the fog. The next morning we lounged in the hot tub. Not to fear, there is a bar in the pool area, if you don't want to wander far for a cocktail. I can't wait to go back. We promised ourselves a trip once a year and I hope we stick to it. The Madonna Inn makes you realize it's a good life!
Of course, I have a bucket list of places I want to stay. I add places as I find out about them, but here is the list thus far.

Joshua Tree Inn / Joshua Tree, California
