I have only spent a few days in the lovely city of Portland, Oregon, and a few more days near the state line of California and Oregon on the coast, but the whole region screams magic to me. It has a very "Narnia" feel. I enjoyed working on both these states and I must say, they may be my favorite ones I have worked on thus far.
Both prints are now up in the shop.
I have also decided to resize my state prints to 8"x10" and print on Crane's Lettra. The 11x14 prints were great size wise, but for printing and reprinting and cutting them done, it just became no fun. One of my favorite characteristics of the whole letterpress process is being able to overprint, and have a tighter registration. Due to my press and base size, I was unable to use crop marks on my 11"x14" state prints and therefore, I was unable to get the registration I love. Instead, the icons are printed just far enough away from each other so that I would have an easier time on the press sans crop marks. I admit it, I love crop marks. I just feel like I have more control over this size yet with more room to play and have been enjoying working on the new states focusing on color combinations, overprinting, and illustration. I also love the feel and texture of Lettra.
